Other Classes & Training

FAST DFW offers a variety of training and classes suitable for all responsible adults who want to take a sensible and realistic role in their personal safety. From those who prefer not to use a firearm or who are not allowed to carry a firearm at work, church, school, etc, right through to basic tactical training for experienced shooters:

NRARefuse To Be A Victim’ Seminars:
Refuse To Be A Victim - it just might save your life.
Hundreds of federal, state, and local law enforcement officials across the country use NRA (National Rifle Association) ‘Refuse To Be A Victim’ seminars as part of their crime prevention and community policing initiatives. This is not a firearms or physical combat instruction course, it’s a seminar suitable for every responsible adult who takes the safety of themselves, their family, friends, and colleagues seriously and understands they have an important part to play in avoiding becoming yet another sad story on the news.

The instruction includes a variety of crime  prevention strategies, from basic criminal psychology to automobile crimes to  ‘cyber’ or online crime. Our NRA (National Rifle Association) certified instructors highlight common weaknesses that criminals may  take advantage of and teach a variety of corrective measures that are practical, inexpensive, and easy to follow. Our NRA instructors discuss home security; ‘carjack’ avoidance techniques; ‘cyber’ safety; the use of  personal safety devices; providing safety tips and techniques that help participants create a personal safety strategy to use as they go about their everyday lives.

We offer ‘Refuse To Be A Victim’ seminars to the general public but they are also ideal for businesses, educational establishments, churches and social groups. The complete seminar lasts about eight  hours but can be customized to suit your needs and run as short as 90 minutes depending on the choice of topics. We can come to your location, holding the seminar in any quiet space with suitable power, light and seating (and ideally A/C as well - it is Texas after all!). Locations must be approved by FASTDFW in advance. Please Contact Us to discuss further.

Topics that may be discussed include: Mental Preparedness; Psychology of Criminal Predators; Domestic Violence; Stalking; Home Security; Physical Security; Workplace Security; Security For Parents and Children From Pre-School to College; Security For Senior Citizens; Security For Persons With Physical Disabilities; Automobile Security; Out-Of-Town Travel Security; TechnologicalClick Here For Top of Page Security; Self-defense Training; Personal Protection Devices.

'Live Fire' Training

NRA 'FIRST Steps’ Pistol, Rifle or Shotgun Orientation Classes:
Our instructors are NRA certified!
F
irearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training’ classes are NRA (National Rifle Association) orientation classes intended for firearm purchasers who know little if anything about firearms but want to learn. They are three to four hours long and include both classroom and range time. Our friendly, patient NRA certified firearm instructors provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation of a handgun (semi-automatic pistol or revolver), rifle or shotgun. They teach the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the firearm’s parts and operation;  ammunition; shooting fundamentals and how to clean the firearm after use. We recommend responsible parents with both a firearm and children in the home remove the curiosity and mystique of guns by bringing family members (aged 12 or older) and the unloaded firearm to this class. (Anyone aged 17 or younger must have their parent or guardian attend the same class.)

And now for something completely different ...
 Empty Brass

Metallic Cartridge Reloading:
The cost of factory loaded ammunition is sky high at the moment, assuming you can find any of course... If you don’t like being short of ammo or paying through the nose for every round, even ones you just use for plinking, why not learn how to reload your own. Minimum of four people required for class.
